Plum Hill Orchard was started by Heidi Beckwith because she loves fruit and wanted to grow it for her community. She was able to purchase 5 acres of land and a house thanks to Linda Schlafer and her parents (Linda offered the land sold without interest, and her parents lent her some money to pay the deposit.
She completed a landscape design degree from MCC, and works as a middle school teacher in Omaha, NE. She is currently slowly planting out the property in prairie and fruit, in a way that hopefully makes sense both ecologically and financially.
Plum Hill Orchard’s mission is to create a world in which abundance is shared, people care about each other, and the earth is treated with respect and honor.
